Good-bye 4th
Grade…
This is it, our final week of
school. It is time to reflect, appreciate, and celebrate. This is a terrific
group of hard-working, achieving learners who have shared so much this year. The
end of 4th grade marks the halfway point to TGS graduation. These
are some “older kids” now I should say-- experienced and independent, able to
connect new knowledge to prior experiences. They are not ready to fly out of
the nest but they each have the skills to think, communicate, and understand
concepts for themselves. They will need guidance to continue to make good
choices and be active learners. I appreciate knowing each child at this
extraordinary stage.
It is time to “take it all
home”! Yes, books, projects, artwork, and writing folders are coming home all
this week. We have a visitor coming on Wednesday so I want to keep the room
looking somewhat “lived in” for our guest, but backpacks will be full. Please
sort through things. Any unfinished math pages could be a great August review
before school starts up again. Charlie Boswell will be in touch with any 5th
grade summer assignments in a few weeks.
This week we will finish our
class novel, The Search for Delicious, by Natalie Babbit. We will
continue writing in our journals. We will
go to the CT River and see the dam in Bellows Falls. We set some “bug traps” in
our brook at school so we will inspect them and look to see what creatures we
catch. We will play as many favorite games as we can in PSD- I have had many
requests for Capture the Flag and Go For 20. Also we will go down to swim
in the culvert when we have time so please pack
extra clothes and a swimsuit all this week. I am looking forward to a
memorable last week and sending these terrific students off to enjoy summer
vacation.
Have a wonderful break and
again, thank you everyone for all you do to support your child in every way. Best
wishes and enjoy these long wonderful summer days!
